FAQ

What is Reiki?
Reiki (ray-key) is a form of energy healing that originated in Japan in the early 20th century. Reiki translates to English as Universal Life (Rei) + Energy (ki). Reiki is the energy that flows through all living beings. When a person’s “ki” or energy becomes weak or blocked it could lead to physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual imbalance.

Reiki is not affiliated with any particular religion, religious practice, or belief system. It is a subtle and effective form of energy work using spiritually guided life force energy. Reiki is for everyone. Reiki is for you.

What does a Reiki session feel/look like?
During a session, I will gently move my hands above or close to my client’s body in a series of positions. Each hand position focuses on a different part of the body and is held for roughly 3 to 10 minutes, depending on the client’s needs. I will work to smooth out my client’s aura, balance their chakras, and potentially remove any stagnant energy that’s taken shape.

Reiki is generally relaxing and many clients feel a sense of calm in their bodies, minds, and spirit following a session. Reiki may also be a bit of work, as clients release old emotions, thought patterns, and programming that no longer serves their higher good…this also feels good!

What are oracle cards?
Oracle cards are a tool that can be used for introspection or divination. An oracle deck may have any number of cards with images and often words to match, along with a guidebook that assists a person to interpret them. Oracle decks have themes to them, often linked to a spiritual aspect such as nature, fairies, angels, crystals, gods and goddesses, sacred geometry, etc.

There’s a lot of room for creativity and intuition with oracle decks, making them a perfect tool for those who connect easily to Spirit.

Do you offer tarot card readings?
No. I learned that the Arcana system and the process for reading a tarot deck is considered to be a “closed” Romani practice created by them and one in which they have faced much prejudice and persecution. A closed system means that the tradition is considered closed to outsiders, or those not initiated into it from someone within the tradition.

There is mixed information on the internet about tarot and even within the Romani community. Some Romani feel that as long as others aren’t profiting from tarot readings, it’s ok to use the tarot; but others feel that it is closed and should be stopped completely.

As an Indigenous person, I have witnessed much cultural appropriation by non-Indigenous people, especially towards our art and regalia and it pains me deeply. I choose to not use tarot, as I do not want to appropriate from another culture that has suffered from creating and using it.
